Sunny South Bluegrass Band

Thanks to everyone who came to our show at Muddy Rudder on December 26th. It was Aaron’s last gig with Sunny South and we were able to give him the send-off he deserves! We’re sure going to miss him. Moving forward, our regular gigs are third Wednesdays at Haymaker and fourth Thursdays at Muddy Rudder. We’ll be part of a bluegrass gospel show on February 15th- more details on that coming soon. Happy New Year!

Sunny South has had a great year in 2024. We are excited to play another round of shows in December and hope to you at one of them. Please check our Shows page to catch up with us. 

Aaron Stocek, lead guitar player, will be leaving Sunny South at the end of the year. Due to a busy family and work life he will be retiring from Sunny South. He will be playing the remaining shows for the month of December and then no longer perform with us. 

We are looking forward to 2025 with a lot of great shows and hope to you see you at one.

Sunny South is staying busy, check our calendar for our current shows. We are excited to be playing at Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival at the end of July. If you have a festival you'd like to see us at, please let us know. It's that time of year where we start sending in our information to play at festivals next summer. We would love to play some more festivals in our area.

We are getting ready to go in to the studio and record. We should have CD's and downloadable music available before too long. We will be sure to let you all know when it is ready.

An exciting development for us is a regular show at Haymaker Eatery and at the Muddy Rudder. 

We will be at Haymaker the first Wednesday of the month for March, April and May. https://www.haymakerportland.com/

Hello friends,

We're thrilled to share that Sunny South has an exciting summer ahead, and we'd love for you to be a part of it. In July, we have the absolute pleasure of performing at a wedding—an occasion we always find incredibly uplifting. Additionally, we're eagerly looking forward to our show at an elderly care facility, where we find immense joy in connecting with the residents. Following that, we're heading to Darrington, Washington to be a part of the fantastic festival there, and then off to Stevenson, Washington to perform at the renowned Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival! August kicks off with a spirited performance at Bluegrass in the Orchardgrass. Rest assured, we're diligently updating our website and social media platforms with these upcoming dates.

During our shows, we'll have our signature t-shirts and stickers available for purchase. If you'd like to get your hands on one, simply let us know—we'd be more than happy to make it happen.

Furthermore, we have plans to hit the studio towards the end of the summer or early fall, with the aim of capturing our music in a recording. We'll be sure to keep you updated on our progress as we move forward.

We genuinely appreciate your support and can't wait to share these memorable moments with you. Stay tuned for more exciting news and updates!

Hey friends,

Well it's starting to feel like summer is coming to an end as our days get shorter and the nights are cooler. We had a great summer and enjoyed playing out. A couple of highlights for us were playing at the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival and Winlock Pickersfest. It's the time of year where we start looking at booking shows for the winter, spring and next summer. We are excited to work on new material during this time as well and do some wood shedding.

Our next show will be in October out at the Multnomah Grange Hall. It is posted on our calendar so stop over there to check it out. At our next show we will be selling t-shirts and stickers. We hope to see you soon, take care!

Summer is flying by. We have had several fun shows this summer including at the Troutdale First Friday and at the Hollywood Farmers Market. We are really excited to be kicking off the shows at the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival in Stevenson, Washington http://new.columbiagorgebluegrass.net/.

We have been busy over here at the Sunny South corporate headquarters... Busy digitizing more great music to share. This time we have the first Sunny South recording done in 1980.
